Source Farm Foundation (SFF) requested assistance for local farmers they are working with to help the farmers establish best practices for proper land preparation that meet organic standards, strengthen their ability to develop crop plans and budgets, and improve the farmers market that provides their main marketing outlet. Alex Hitt, of Peregrine Farm, Graham NC and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Farmers' Markets, Inc. was selected to provide technical assistance based on his 33 years of experience in all aspects of horticultural crop production and in teaching and training new farmers in sustainable farming techniques, and his service on the board of Directors of the 35 year old, farmer run and U.S. nationally known, Carrboro Farmers' Market for 29 years.

The organization Royal Palm requested FAVACA's aid to identify a volunteer with expertise and knowledge of innovative vermiculture strategies. The high cost of chicken feed is detrimental and unsustainable for Haitian chicken farmers and Royal Palm's chicken project. Thus FAVACA sent Patryk Battle, Director of and Lead Educator of the non-profit Living Web Farms, to evaluate available resources and organizations, and to determine practical solutions to alleviate current obstacles.

The Farmer-to-Farmer Livestock Marketing Project spanning five years from 2013 to 2018 aims to increase access to meat and milk products to various markets, and to provide technical assistance in certification processes, manufacturing of products, and marketing. The company Cooproleche in Nueva Guinea, El Triunfo, Nicaragua sought FAVACA for assistance in improving the quality and shelf life of their yogurt products. Ohio State University Professor Melvin Pascall, who has produced academic scholarship in this field, took two trips this year to Nicaragua from September 7 - 14, and September 28 - October 5.
