Robert B. Ratliff
Robert B. Ratliff's professional qualifications include an AA degree in Fire Science Technology from Florida Community College at Jacksonville as well as Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector and Fire Officer I certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards. A resident of Jacksonville, Bob's career includes over 25 years of service as both a volunteer and career firefighter. Bob provides instruction independently and at the Florida State Fire College in Ocala. As a Volunteer Corps consultant Bob trained brother firefighters in Jacmel, Haiti, 20 of whom studied for two weeks at the Florida State Fire College where Bob facilitated advanced training. Bob was also instrumental in obtaining a donated fire engine for Haiti.
JACMEL VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE RECEIVES TRAINING IN FIRE MANAGEMENT. Under an agreement with USAID-HAITI Programs, Florida Volunteer Corps will provide a series of training and technical assistance consultancies in support of USAID-HAITI's SECONDARY CITIES PROGRAM (Cap-Haitien, Jacmel). Volunteer Robert Ratliff, Captain at the Jacksonville Port Authority Fire Department and Instructor at the Florida State Fire College, traveled to Jacmel September 8-13, 2000 to conduct the workshop. The training was held at the City Hall in Jacmel consisting of 26 participants who make up the volunteer fire department. Volunteer Ratliff made recommendations relevant to upgrading existing equipment and apparatus, as well as additional training needed for the firefighters in the future through the Florida State Fire College.
